Medical University of South Carolina(MUSC) is a South Carolina-based state-funded higher institution of learning that is based in Charleston, South Carolina. In 1824, the first class had eight students that became MUSC, the oldest Medical School in the Southern US. It has since grown to be an academic health science center that is home to the school of medicine. MUSC as one of the largest employers in the state with about 14,000 employees, in which 1,600 are faculty and its hospital and clinics have over 2 million patients annually.
